Ecopia AI to Deliver High-Precision Mapping Data to the City of LA in Support of Climate Resilience Initiatives

August 04, 2022 -- Toronto -- Today, Ecopia AI announced that it was selected to provide high-precision mapping data to the City of LA Bureau of Street Services - helping support the city’s climate-resilience initiatives including the optimization of stormwater medians throughout Los Angeles.

The City of Los Angeles will be leveraging Ecopia’s vector maps to obtain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date information regarding the location of traffic medians, tree canopy, street-trees, bus pads, and highlighted speed bumps. Produced by leveraging Ecopia’s advanced AI-based mapping systems, this foundational data will help the City of LA Bureau of Street Services optimize the placement of stormwater outputs and vegetation within medians. Traditionally installed as a means to separate traffic directions, medians can also be repurposed for water conveyance and infiltration by incorporating vegetating and stormwater infrastructure. This introduces the opportunity to incorporate functional greenscapes throughout the city within existing street infrastructure - resulting in enhanced stormwater management and more visually appealing public space throughout the city.
