Ecopia AI Provides High-Precision Mapping Data for NVIDIA Earth-2 Climate Digital Twin Cloud Platform

March 18, 2024 - Ecopia AI announces its high-precision 3D vector data will be available in NVIDIA Earth-2 to support climate simulations and analytics.

March 18, 2025 - Toronto - Ecopia AI (Ecopia) announces its high-precision 3D map data will be available in NVIDIA Earth-2 to enable climate simulations and analytics. This data, developed with NVIDIA GPUs supporting Ecopia’s AI-based mapping process, will provide users with unprecedented access to a comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date digital representation of the dynamically changing physical world.

Ecopia’s AI-powered geospatial data has been supporting climate-related workflows for over a decade across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Among the hundreds of organizations leveraging Ecopia’s data for geospatial analytics are the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Canadian Federal Government, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), SwissRe, and the World Health Organization. Common applications of Ecopia’s 3D map data include stormwater management, wildfire and flood modeling, and land use change analysis.

As the world’s natural and built environments continuously evolve, creating and maintaining a reliable database for input into simulations, models, and other analytics can be challenging. Traditional data creation methods involve manually tracing individual features visible in geospatial imagery, a process that can take years to complete across just one city, resulting in stale databases that cannot support the timelines needed for risk assessment and disaster preparedness.

Ecopia’s AI-based mapping engine ingests satellite, aerial, and street-view imagery to extract high-precision map data at scale, enabling organizations to leverage a digital twin with complete and accurate information for analytics and decision-making.

“AI-based mapping is a game-changer for risk assessment as it enables users to keep databases current with the constantly changing real world,” says Jon Lipinski, President and Co-Founder of Ecopia AI. “Our mapping process produces reliable geospatial data that accurately reflects real-world conditions. This data currently powers risk assessment workflows for government agencies, insurance carriers, and other organizations, and will be made available within NVIDIA Earth-2 to fuel next-generation climate analytics and simulations.”

“High-precision geospatial data is a critical component of Earth-2’s digital twin capabilities,” said Dion Harris, senior director of HPC and AI Factory Solutions at NVIDIA. “Up-to-date 3D representations of the physical world enable users to simulate climate and weather conditions as they occur, efficiently providing invaluable insights for risk assessment and disaster preparedness in situations where every second counts.”
