The partnership with Ecopia empowers us with an unprecedented level of detail and accuracy about northeastern Illinois. These comprehensive and up-to-date views of transportation and land cover will help CMAP and local decision makers drive innovation and develop projects that serve our region’s 8.5 million residents.

Ecopia was able to extract all of the features needed for county-wide transportation planning. Their AI was able to digitize even the most specific transportation features, all with the level of detail you’d expect from diligent manual digitization.

By partnering with Ecopia to map over 24,000 miles of sidewalks and crosswalks, we were able to identify gaps and strategically plan for infrastructure - especially for residents without adequate sidewalk access.

We needed accurate and complete data to effectively allocate taxpayer dollars to transportation infrastructure improvements. Ecopia was the only data company we found that could deliver the exact features we were looking for at the level of quality we require to justify funding our projects.

Having Ecopia’s data was very helpful in cutting down the extensive time and labour needed to document all of the County’s roadway assets. Previously this work would have required teams of manual annotators and staff in the field to verify results. Ecopia has been an important asset in supporting our active transportation and vision zero plans.
